Taylor on Track for Texas Tussle

ANAHEIM, CA — Dennis Taylor’s Plumbing Concepts Camaro heads to Ennis, Texas, and the fabled Texas Motorplex this weekend. As the O’Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals commences, it promises to be a real Texas shootout, as the top cars in the nation are expected to enter the fray. Taylor comes off a recent Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series win at Heartland Park Topeka, and aims to build on that momentum. Dennis mentioned, “We’re all really looking forward to racing on a premium, national event surface and they don’t get much better than Billy Meyer’s Texas Motorplex. Recently, we’ve had to de-tune the car significantly in order to tip-toe our way down marginal drag strips.”

Taylor’s respected Crew Chief, Ora Vasquez added, “I always look forward to these high-profile national events. The impressive level of competition always challenges us to rise to the occasion, and that’s good for our whole team.” Following the Fallon, Nevada, LODRS event, regular maintenance went smoothly. Dennis and Ora have conspired to add some changes to their internal engine parts combination and feel confident these changes will pay dividends at Ennis. At this stage of the season, there’s no better time to make a move in the national points chase. Coming into Ennis, Taylor sits atop the Pacific Division 7 standings and occupies the number-6 position in the national rankings.

The Ennis pre-entry list features six different Top 10 finishers from last year and Taylor wears the number four. In all, 22 Top Alcohol Funny Cars are pre-entered for this pivotal late-season battle, which qualifies a 16-car field. Fans can log on to the live NHRA web cast, or mark their calendars for NHRA’s Sportsman TV show on ESPN2, airing on October 2. In recent weeks, Dennis Taylor has appeared in California Speedway’s Official NASCAR Event Program, as well as being included in a Los Angeles Times story, prior to the Pacific Division 7 race at Fontana.
