A Brief History of Metro Moulded Parts

In 1918, John Hajicek started the Hutchinson Rubber Company in Hutchinson, Minnesota, one of the first rubber companies West of the Mississippi. Those new contraptions, the automobiles, blew out their tires with regularity, and he manufactured thousands of auto inner tubes. This was the main product line until World War II, when John used his knowledge and equipment to manufacture a number of difficult parts for the military. After the war, he moved to Minneapolis and ran a small custom-molding company that specialized in hard-to-make industrial parts.

John Hajicek

In 1962, his son, Donald Hajicek, began restoring an L29 Cord. He found very few rubber parts available for classic cars, with the exception of the early Fords. After making the molds and parts he needed, they were advertised in the early Hemmings Motor News. The response was wonderful, and restorers deluged him with requests for other items. After endless hours of hard work, the business evolved into a growing line of reproduction vintage car parts.

Doug Hajicek

In 1973, John Hajicek's grandson, Douglas Hajicek, joined the company and worked closely with his father and grandfather, learning all phases of the business, from manufacturing to customer service. By 1980, he took over the management of Metro Moulded Parts, Inc., determined to supply the restorer with many challenging and difficult, high quality parts. By paying close attention to detail and authenticity, and by adding many new and progressive products, Doug is determined to maintain Metro's leadership in the reproduction of classic car parts. Metro is committed to supply the best quality parts at fair prices, to provide fast and personal customer service, and to stand behind its parts.
